Ron Howard
Pasco High School, 1970

Hailing from Pasco High School, Ron Howard has made his home on the field, court, track and classroom.

As a high school athlete, Ron was an All-Conference football selection; All-Conference, All-State, and All-American basketball selection; and Triple Jump State Champion.  He was named 1st Team All-State and 1st Team All-American in 1970 after leading his basketball team to the championship game of the state tournament before suffering their only loss of the season in overtime to Snohomish.

Ron attended Seattle University as a basketball star.  After being a two year starting forward for the Seattle University basketball team, he had an offer to play professionally in France, but turned the opportunity down for something that proved to be much bigger.

Ron was drafted by the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys without playing one game of college football.  He was later named No. 30 on the Mid-Columbia Sports Stories of the Century list for just that reason.

He played a total of six seasons in the NFL with three teams, the Dallas Cowboys (1974-75), the Seattle Seahawks (1976-78) and the Buffalo Bills (1979).  He also played in Super Bowl X as a member of the Cowboys’ squad and was an important part of the first win in Seahawks history by catching the touchdown pass that helped give the Seahawks its first franchise victory.

He has proven his commitment to educational programs and is always quick to lend a helping hand when volunteers are needed.  Ron is an administrative intern at the middle school level and is currently the assistant boys’ basketball coach, assistant football coach, and head girls’ track coach at Rainier Beach High School.
