COACHES MEETINGS On Thursday there will be a coaches meeting prior to the Tri-District Meet in the red tent by the main start/finish line at 3:00 p.m. Coaches will pick up a meet packet, review meet procedures and consider any last minute scratches.
On Saturday there will be a meeting at 11:00 a.m. to pick up results from Thursday’s finals and receive Tri-District programs. At the conclusion of the final event there will be a meeting to hand out final results and review State Meet coaches responsibilities.

1. Qualifiers and Additional Entries
16 Total qualifiers in each event will compete in the Tri-District Meet. Additional entries will compete if any athlete meets the “Tri-District Qualifying Standard.”
Qualifying Standards
There is a remote possibility that outstanding athletes could be left out of this meet. A standard
Has been set averaging the 8th place finishers at the state meet for the last 5 years.

Non-lane events and field events will be run as finals.
2. Entries and Scratches
Entries will be finalized at each qualifying meet’s post meet coaches meeting. The meet managers will send the results to the tri-district meet manager that evening.
Any
participant who scratches from an event after district qualifying meet entries
have been sent to the Tri-District Meet Manager will be scratched from all
events and will not be allowed to participate per the WIAA Track and Field
regulations.
3. Alternates The 17th place finisher in each event will be the
alternate to the Tri-District.
4. Relay Team Entries
In the relay events, six (6) individuals may be listed as entries. Any four (4) of which may
compete. If the qualifying meet uses HyTec, relay entries will be put into HyTec at the coaches meeting at the conclusion of the meet.
5. State Qualifiers
5 boys and 5 girls will qualify from each event, including relays, to the State Meet at Mt.Tahoma
on Friday and Saturday, May 23-24, 2008. Additional entries are allowed to qualify if they meet the State Qualify Standard during the Tri-District Meet Finals.

National Federation Rules
National Federation Rules will govern the meet. Any problems that arise during the meet will
be the responsibility of the Meet Referee. A Games Committee (jury of appeals) has been assigned and will be available if needed. Any appeal upon which the Games Committee would be expected to rule must be submitted in writing on the attached form with a head coach’s signature, within
30 minutes of the alleged infraction.
Decisions of the Games Committee will be final.
2. Calls for Running Events
. Calls for the Running Events will be over the PA system. “1st Call” will be 15 min. before the start of the event, “2nd Call” will be 10 min. before and “3rd and Final Call” will be 5 min. before.
3. Check-In Procedure for all finals
Track event participants will be gathered in the
Marshaling Area (under a tent) near the main start/finish line. Participants are to proceed to the tent
after the 1st Call for their event. By the
“2nd Call” participants should be in the Marshaling Area. The Clerk of the Course will check
in each athlete (*it is the athletes responsibility to be in proper uniform – even after checking-in.). Each participant will be announced and will proceed to their assigned position on the track.
Field event participants will report to event area and check in before the 1st Call. All participants should be warmed-up and ready for instructions by the 3rd and Final Call.
Event judges will *check uniforms, jewelry, spike, etc.
*It is the athletes responsibility to be in proper uniform. The clerk and field event judges are attempting to eliminate any potential problems.
4. Lane Events
Seeding for all preliminary lane events will be by time as follows:
Heat 1 = entry times 1,4,5,8,9,12,13,16
Heat 2 = entry times 2,3,6,7,10,11,14,15
If an event has 8 or less entries there will not be a
Preliminary Heat.
Advancing to the Finals
The top 3 place finishers from the two heats and the next 2 fastest times will advance to the
finals on Saturday.
Lane assignments for the finals
1st place finishers from the two heats will draw for lanes 4 and 5, 2nd place finishers lanes 3 and 6,
3rd place finishers lanes 2 and 7 and 4th or 5th place finishers lanes 1 and 8.
5. Marking the Track
Relay runners must not mark the track with spikes. Tape or half tennis balls are acceptable but must be removed immediately after the race. Any runner scratching the track for take-off marks will be disqualified.
6. Marking of Runway Approaches
Approach markers for the Long Jump, Triple Jump and Pole Vault must be off the approach
surface. A piece of tape to mark the approach for the High Jump may be on the approach surface.
7. Starting Blocks
Starting blocks will be provided. Individuals may use their own blocks
8. Pole Vault – The Pole Vault is scheduled to be contested both days in case of inclement weather.
Girls: The crossbar will start 6” below the lowest entry height and be raised by 6” until half the competitors are remaining and raised 3” thereafter.
Boys: The crossbar will start 6” below the lowest entry height and be raised by 6” until half the
competitors are remaining and raised 3” thereafter.
9. High Jump
Girls: The crossbar will start 2” below the lowest entry height and be raised by 2” until half the competitors are remaining and raised 1” thereafter.
Boys: The crossbar will start 2” below the lowest entry height and be raised by 2” until half the competitors are remaining and raised 1” thereafter.
10. High
Jumpers and Pole Vaulters
Participants in the high jump and pole vault will compete in the five alive format.
11. Running event and field event
Running
events will take precedence over field events.
Runners need to check out with the
field event
official and return to the field event immediately following the race/awards.
12. Field
Event Preliminaries and Finals
The field events (except pole vault and high jump) participants will compete in flights of eight
competitors. The format will be a one/one/one throw/jump sequence by flights. The last
preliminary flight will be entries with the best marks. Only eight competitors shall qualify
for the finals. The order of competition in the finals will be in reverse order of best performance
in the preliminaries.
13. Throwing Implements
The host school will provide new shots and discuses. Competitors must provide his/her javelin
and may provide his/her shot or discus. However, each competitor will present his/her
implement(s) to be weighed and measured by the Field Event Referee between 2:30 p.m. and
3:00 p.m. on Thursday and 10:15 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. Saturday.
14. Javelin
The javelin will be thrown off of track surface.
15. Contestant’s Uniforms
Contestants shall wear only the uniform issued by the school and complies with the uniform
regulations stipulated in the National Federation Rules.
16. Finishing a Lane Race
Contestants are to remain in their lanes and line across the track on the light blue triangles.
Finish judges will select unofficial places and assist athletes. From the finish line the athletes will be directed to the award stand for the medal presentation.
17. Official
Times
Fully Automatic Timing will be used (MacFinish). Results will be posted on the fence in
the parking lot by the timers tent.
GENERAL
INFORMATION
1.
Awards
Pins will be presented to the top 8 place finishers in each event. Thursday’s finals will be
awarded throughout the meet on Saturday. All other pins will be awarded immediately
after the event.
2.
Scoring
Eight (8) places will be scored in each event – 10, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.
3. Finish Line
The finish line, timing stand and scoring areas are flagged off. Only officials are allowed in these areas
4. Locker Rooms
Locker rooms will be available in the Mike Martin Gym by the lower parking lot. Each team is
responsible for its own valuables.
5. Information Packet
Upon arrival coaches will pick up meet information at the tent near the main start/finish line.
Any changes will be indicated at that time.
6. Meet Results
Complete printed meet results will be available approximately 20 minutes after completion of
the last event. Statisticians and others will not be permitted in the scoring and announcer area.
7. Buses
Buses need to be parked in the lower lot by Mike Martin Gym. The stadium parking lot is for
passenger vehicles only.
8. T-Shirts
Tri-District T-shirts will be on sale in the parking lot behind the stadium.
9 Infield
Athletes, Coaches, Managers and Parents are to stay in the stands, off the infield, except
to warm-up or to assist an injured athlete. To observe an athlete on the back side of the
track spectators and coaches can walk around the south side of the track. There are two
small sets of bleachers on the inside of the track by the shot put and discus rings.
Spectators and coaches may sit in the bleachers until competition is completed.
Coaches, please remind athletes to return to the stands after completing an event.
