Position: JV Head Tennis Coach
Location Bainbridge Island High School
Description Job Summary: Under the general supervision of the Athletic Director this position is responsible for coaching student athletes in game strategies and techniques to prepare them for athletic competition. This position motivates student athletes to develop an appreciation of the sport.
Essential Duties:
? Develop a regular practice schedule and organize practice time to provide both individual and
team development.
? Assess players’ skills and assign team positions.
? Coach and instruct players, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations,
equipment, and techniques of the sport.
? Observe players during competition and practice to determine the needs for individual or team
improvement.
? Determine game/match strategy based on the team’s capabilities.
? Implement and supervise strength and conditioning program.
? Attend all competitions and practices as directed by the head coach.
? Conference and communicate with parents/guardians, as necessary, regarding the
performance of their athlete.
? Monitor the academic performance of team members to ensure that eligibility requirements
are met; encourage student athletes to maintain a high academic standard.
? Establish and maintain standards of athlete’s behavior and provide proper supervision of
athletes at all times.
? Follow state, regional, and district regulations governing the athletic program.
? Hold organizational meetings for team prospects and encourages potential athletes to
participate in the sport.
? Follow established procedures for the proper care, maintenance, and requisitioning of
equipment, supplies, and uniforms.
Other Duties:
? Dress, act, and represent Bainbridge High School appropriately at all athletic events, practices,
and activities.
? Model positive behavior and maintain appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and
spectators.
? Model nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
? Follow established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury.
? Maintain regular and consistent attendance at work.
? Maintain eligibility forms, emergency data cards, insurance records, equipment inventory, and other related records.
? Works with the Athletic Director in scheduling facilities for practices and competition.
? Other duties as assigned by the principal, Athletic Director or other appropriate administrator.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required):
1. Experience as a soccer coach desired.
2. Must possess effective coaching techniques and skills.
3. Must possess a thorough knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport, the WIAA and BISD policies
4. Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents, and student-athletes.

Must have the ability to stand for extended periods of time; ability to: see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal levels, outdoors and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly; physical strength to lift up to 25 pounds to shoulder height and 50 pounds to waist height; and to bend, to stoop, to sit on the floor, to climb stairs, to walk and to reach overhead.
