Contract: Coaching Contract
Under the direction of the Head Coach, assists with the track program, and is the primary throwing coach, and provides support to the Head Coach as assigned in the management of the sports program.
Position requires the coach to perform duties assigned by the Head Coach and/or the Athletic Director which involve managing the sport program duties to include providing instruction and experiences for students to help prepare them mentally and physically for athletic competition, as well as to enhance their personal, physical and social growth and development in a multi-ethnic environment.
Essential Job Functions:
This list of essential job functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary. Depending upon individual assignment, the employee may perform all or a combination of several of the following duties:
Plan and supervises scheduled workouts and games for track and field team.
Instructs athletes in the skills and techniques for the sport.
Keeps abreast of current sport knowledge and coaching techniques by attending clinics and reviewing related literature; maintains current knowledge of WIAA rules, regulations and by-laws.
Attends all sporting contests and provides support for the Head Coach in decision making and management of the sport event.
Assists the Head Coach, as assigned, in management of District-owned equipment, maintenance of records, issuing athletic awards and other functions associated with promotion and management of the sports program.
Attends meetings and clinics as required by Athletic Department, including attending League pre-season coaches’ meeting and annual WIAA sponsored rule clinics as applicable to track and field.

Working knowledge of specific sport fitness, safety methods, and techniques
Ability to commit to an athletic program that fosters the self-worth and self-esteem of all participants
Ability to teach sports theory and technique

Ability to willingly support and foster the mission of the Sultan School District
Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, teachers, and administration
Ability to communicate, implement, and uphold district athletic standards
Rules Clinic Attendance
Continuing Education Standards – 30 hours prior to the 3rd season of coaching for new coaches and 15 hours every three years thereafter
Successful coaching experience in appropriate sport
Must have excellent moral character
Must have excellent organizational and motivational skills
Valid/current CPR/1st Aid card maintained for the duration of this job
Type II Driver’s License or willingness and ability to obtain
Successful Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint Clearance
I-9 Employment Eligibility in compliance with the Immigrations Reform and Control Act
Sexual Harassment Training (obtain prior to season starting – district provided)
Safe Schools trainings (obtain prior to season
starting – district provided)
Work is typically performed in a gymnasium and outside on a field; requires substantial extra-hours work, travel between sites, stamina and endurance, and physical exertion associated with demonstrating techniques; must be willing to work outdoors in inclement weather; may be required to balance, crouch, crawl, bend, kneel, and stand for prolonged periods; may be exposed to high noise levels and childhood diseases; and may experience a multitude of demands and changing priorities with frequent interruptions.
