Position: Athletic Director
Location Bishop Blanchet High School
Description Seeking our next Athletic Director to begin August 1, 2017

Bishop Blanchet is a Catholic, college preparatory high school in Seattle, Washington serving a co-ed population of approximately 900 students in grades 9-12. Founded in 1954, Bishop Blanchet is a prominent Archdiocesan high school committed to serving a diverse student body with the most comprehensive Catholic high school experience in the greater Seattle area. Overview of responsibilities:

The Athletic Director reports to the Principal and is responsible for the planning, implementation and overall direction of the athletic department’s programs, policies, and procedures.

• A proven track record of providing leadership, direction, and playing an active role in athletic program development
• Excellent communication skills including writing, public speaking, presentations and small group meetings
• Available for evening and weekend events
• At least 5 years of administrative and/or teaching experience, ideally with experience in Catholic school environments
• Bachelors Degree at minimum, Masters Degree preferred

Essential functions of the position:

1. Personnel Management
• Recruit and identify coaches for all sports, making employment recommendations to the Principal
• Supervise and evaluate all head coaches and ensure for the supervision and evaluation of assistant coaches within each program
• Provide for on-going training and development for coaches
• Distribute and review expectations of the athletic handbook and code with all coaches
• Maintain records and inform coaching staff of their first aid status
• Supervise and collaborate with the Athletic Trainer to ensure athlete safety
• Supervise the Athletic Office Administrative Assistant

2. Program Management
• Oversee and manage all student eligibility paperwork, including the signed athletic code
• Responsible for monitoring student athlete eligibility and notifying coaches of any eligibility concerns (academic or disciplinary)
• Ensure for all WIAA compliance and reporting. Attend league and district meetings.
• Oversee the management of athletic information on the school webpage
• Work with the Director of Marketing and Communications to make certain athletic programs and student athletes receive appropriate recognition, both on the school website and in local media
• Coordinate and support the development of summer athletic camps in collaboration with coaches
• Serve as liaison with CYO leaders and support the scheduling of CYO contests on BBHS campus
• Provide leadership for and serve as liaison to the Athletic Booster Club and coordinate the support for specific athletic programs

3. Facilities and Fiscal Management
• Prepare annual athletic department and individual sports budgets, including stipends, equipment
• Responsible for inventory, ordering and distribution of uniforms and equipment to coaches
• Schedule all athletic contests including non-league games
• Schedule, confirm and notify officials of events and any changes or cancellations
• Supervise athletic contests and act as host for officials and visiting teams. Oversee and manage the scheduling of game supervision and volunteer staff for all home games, including the securing of necessary fields or venues
• Provide management of BBHS bus fleet and schedule appropriate transportation for all practices and athletic events

4. Administrative and Teaching Roles
• Serves as a member of the BBHS Leadership Team and the Principal’s Council
• Depending on program and staffing needs, the Athletic Director may teach up to 1 class per semester. Courses would be assigned in consultation with the Principal and based upon academic qualifications, experience and personal interest.
• The Athletic Director may serve as a head coach of 1 sport with the approval of the Principal

Contractual Term: Athletic Director will serve under an administrative contract of 220 days.
