Position: Assistant Swimming Coach 2017-18

Description Fall and Winter Coaching Opportunity
Assistant Swimming Coach

Lakeside School, an independent coeducational day school located in North Seattle, is currently recruiting for an assistant swimming coach for the fall 2017 and winter 2017-2018 swimming and diving seasons. The fall season begins Monday, August 21 and concludes on Saturday, November 11. The boys season begins Monday, November 13 and concludes on Saturday, February 17. A required preseason coaches meeting will on Monday, August 14, 3:30- 9:00 p.m.

Responsibilities
The assistant swimming coach, reporting to the swim & dive program head, will join an athletics program that includes 23 varsity teams, most of which have both sub-varsity and middle-school counterparts. The swim and dive program consists of one girls team and one boys team at the Upper School (grades 9-12). The assistant swimming coach is responsible for specific duties associated with that team as assigned by the head swimming and diving coach. Specific responsibilities include:
• Compliance with all Lakeside School , Metro League, and WIAA policies and procedures;
• Supervision and instruction of swimming and diving student-athletes during all team activities;
• Maintenance and inventory of team equipment and apparel;
• Attendance at required swimming and diving program and interscholastic athletics program meetings;
• Support of multi-sport participation for student-athletes; and
• Promotion of balanced achievement in all areas of school life for student-athletes.

Requirements and Qualifications
The successful candidate must be 19 years of age, possess a valid Washington State driver’s license, and be available for all practices (generally early mornings) and competitions (generally Friday afternoons beginning at 3:30 p.m.) during the coaching season with availability on weekends as required. Experience coaching swimming at the high school or college level is preferred, but not required. Additionally, candidates must satisfactorily complete a nationwide criminal background check, a Washington State Patrol background check and must possess or obtain prior to the start of their season current First Aid and CPR certification.
