Position: Middle School Boys Basketball Coaches - Winter 2017-18
Location Seattle, Washington
Description Lakeside School, an independent coeducational day school located in North Seattle, is currently recruiting for three middle school boys basketball coaches for the winter 2017-2018 season. The season begins Monday, November 6 and concludes at the latest in late-January/early-February. Required preseason coaches meetings will be held on Monday, October 30, 3:30 – 7 PM.


The middle school boys basketball coach, reporting to the boys basketball program head, will join an athletics program that includes 23 varsity teams, most of which have both sub-varsity and middle-school counterparts. The boys basketball program generally includes three teams at the Upper School, as well as middle school teams at every grade level, 5-8. The middle school boys basketball coaches are responsible for the direct management of their assigned team, as well as for other specific duties within the program as assigned by the boys basketball program head. Specific responsibilities include:

• Compliance with all Lakeside School and CYO
policies and procedures;

• Supervision and instruction of basketball student-
athletes during all team activities;

• Maintenance and inventory of team equipment and
• Attendance at required basketball program and
interscholastic athletics program meetings;
• Support of multi-sport participation for student-
athletes; and
• Promotion of balanced achievement in all areas of
school life for student-athletes.

Requirements and Qualifications:

Successful candidates must be 19 years of age, possess a valid Washington State driver’s license, and be available for all practices and competitions from 3 PM daily during their coaching season with availability on weekends as required. Each team practices twice a week for 75 minutes and has one game per weekend. Experience coaching basketball at the middle school or high school level is preferred, but not required. Additionally, candidates must satisfactorily complete a criminal background check and must possess or obtain prior to the start of their season current First Aid and CPR certification.
