Position: Assistant Varsity Tennis Coach
Location Seattle, Washington
Description Lakeside School, an independent coeducational day school located in North Seattle, is currently recruiting for an
Assistant Varsity Tennis Coach for the 2018 tennis season. The season begins on Monday, February 26, 2018 and concludes on May 26, 2018 (state championship weekend). There will be a required pre-season coaches meeting on Tuesday, February 13, 3:30 – 7 p.m.

Responsibilities:

The assistant varsity tennis coach, reporting to the head varsity tennis coach and director of athletics, will join an athletics program that includes 23 varsity teams, most of which have both sub-varsity and middle-school counterparts. The tennis program has boys and girls teams at the varsity and JV levels with a combined team roster of about 40 athletes. There are no Middle School teams. The assistant varsity tennis coach is directly responsible for the coaching and management of the varsity teams. Also, the coach can be assigned other duties within the program by the head varsity coach and the director of athletics. Specific responsibilities include:

• Compliance with all Lakeside School, Metro League,
and WIAA policies and procedures;
• Supervision and instruction of tennis student-
athletes during all team activities;
• Maintenance and inventory of team equipment and
apparel;
• Development of tennis practice and competition
schedules;
• Attendance at required tennis program and
interscholastic athletics program meetings;
• Support of multi-sport participation for student-
athletes; and
• Promotion of balanced achievement in all areas of
school life for student-athletes.

Requirements and Qualifications:

Successful candidates must be 21 years of age, possess a valid Washington State driver’s license, and be available for all practices and competitions. Practices are held after school for about two hours each day beginning at 3:30 p.m. Matches are held in the afternoons (3:30 or 4 p.m. starts) around Seattle. Experience coaching tennis at the youth, club, high school, or college level is required. Additionally, candidates must satisfactorily complete a criminal background check and must possess, or obtain prior to their season, First Aid and CPR certifications.
