Position: Varsity Volleyball Assistant Coach

Description Varsity Volleyball Assistant Coach

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist the varsity head coach in coaching the volleyball program in general and the varsity team in particular.
Approach coaching from an educational perspective, teaching character and volleyball skills, developing each athlete as a person and player.
Teach and motivate athletes using a wide range of methods.
Generate enthusiasm, commitment, and pride among students in the program.
Engage with others – athletes, colleagues, parents, opponents, referees, etc. – with respect and positivity. Model the ideals of sportsmanship in personal conduct, and emphasize sportsmanship and leadership with athletes.
Philosophical alignment with striving to win while promoting the bigger picture of character, commitment, and team supportiveness.
Continually grow and develop coaching expertise and effectiveness. Regularly attend clinics and conferences to develop professional knowledge.
Work as a collaborative member of the volleyball program, the team of NWS coaches, and NWS faculty.
Know and adhere to sport rules and regulations.

Minimum Qualifications:
Expertise and experience coaching volleyball at the high school level or beyond.
Experience playing volleyball, preferably beyond the high school level.
First Aid, CPR and head injury training is current.
Clean driving record and valid driver’s license.
Washington State Background check is clear.

Compensation/Details: Competitive coaching stipend, based on experience.
This is a stipend only position. Season starts in mid-late August and ends mid-November.

Availability: Monday-Friday, and some Saturdays.
