Position: Head Volleyball Coach

Description Head Volleyball Coach

Overlake School is seeking qualified applicants for the positions of Head Volleyball Coach for the 2019 season. Qualifications for the position include prior coaching experience, with head coaching experience preferred.

Why is this job special? This is one of the best situations a new head coach could ask for. Our outgoing coach did a fantastic job, so much so that she accepted a D1 college coaching offer after leading this program the last two seasons. Here are some of the program’s accomplishments:
Won the 2017 & 2018 Emerald City League regular season and ECL tournament championships

Compiled a 28-1 league record, made trips to the state tournament both seasons, with many out of league wins including victories at state

Four all-league players return, 3 sophomores and one junior, as well as all starters (only two seniors were on this year’s varsity)

The program has a varsity, junior varsity, and a c team, with a feeder program of three middle school teams, which will continue to produce strong players

A positive culture of competition in practice and enthusiasm among teammates and coaches

State of the art facilities (two gyms), a full-time athletic trainer, and dedicated department staff to support our 90+ coaches across the department

Competitive pay that meets the local public school stipend schedules and is among the highest in private school coaching.

Successful Candidates will:
1) Have the ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, parents, alums and administrators.
2) Be able to role model the behavior which he/she demands.
3) Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
4) Be able to pass a criminal background check in addition to having an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities include:
Plan and Execute all team practices
Supervise players, assistant coaches and volunteers at all team events (games, practices, road trips, meetings, etc.)
Provide basic medical treatment for non-life threatening injuries. Be able to execute emergency plan for athletic facilities
Attend Athletic Department Coaches Training
Meet Department and W.I.A.A. Coaching Standards

Details for the Applicant:
The High School season starts August 26 and concludes November 16. Practices run five days per week (usually 4:30-6:30 pm), some Saturday games. All practices held on campus.
There are additional paid opportunities to coach our players in the summer.

The Overlake School is an independent, secular, college prep school, which services grades 5-12, located in Redmond, Washington. Enrollment is 535 students. In addition to state-of-the-art facilities and a very competitive, yet inclusive athletic department, Overlake boasts an 80% student participation rate in athletics. Overlake competes in the Emerald City 1A League, located in Sea-King District 2 of the W.I.A.A.
