Position: Assistant Tennis Coaches
Location Seattle, WA
Description Lakeside School, an independent 5-12 coeducational day school located in North Seattle is currently recruiting for two Assistant Tennis Coaches. The season begins Monday, February 25, 2019 and concludes at the latest on Saturday, May 25, 2019. A required preseason coaches meeting will be held on Monday, February 11, 3:30 – 7pm.


The tennis coaches, reporting to the head varsity tennis coach and the director of athletics, will join an athletics program that includes 23 varsity teams, most of which have both sub-varsity and middle-school counterparts. The tennis program, which is coed, includes a boys and girls varsity team and the same at the JV level. The tennis coaches will be responsible for coaching duties with the team, as well as other program wide duties as assigned by the director of athletics and head varsity tennis coach. Specific responsibilities include:

1. Compliance with all Lakeside School, METRO League, and WIAA policies and procedures.

2. Supervision and instruction of student-athletes during team activities.

3. Maintenance and inventory of team equipment and apparel.

4. Attendance at required program and interscholastic athletics program meetings.

5. Support of multi-sport participation for student-athletes.

6. Promotion of balanced achievement in all areas of school life for student athletes.

Requirements and Qualifications:

1. At least 25 years of age, have a clean driving record and a valid Washington state driver’s license.

2. Be available for all practices and competitions from 3 pm daily during their coaching season with availability on weekends as required.

3. Experience coaching tennis at the club, high school or college level is preferred.

4. Possess or obtain prior to the start of the season current First Aid/CPR certification.

5. Cultural awareness, including knowledge of themselves and the cultural lenses they bring to interactions and an ability to communicate with people from cultures different than their own.

6. Candidates must satisfactorily complete two criminal background checks and possess (or obtain) a current First Aid and CPR certification prior to the start of their season.


We offer a stipend schedule that compares favorably with peer schools and clubs both locally and nationally. Coaching stipends are paid in monthly installments during the primary competition seasons.
