Congratulations Hal DeBerry (Newport HS, Bellevue)!

For three years now, member umpires of the NBUA (Northwest Umpires Association) have voted for a Varsity Baseball Coach of the Year.
In 2011, David Larson of Highline High School was selected. In 2012, Velko Vitalich of West Seattle was selected. For the 2013 season, the membership chose Hal DeBerry of Newport High School in Bellevue. On Thursday, June 13th, at an all school assembly, the award was presented to Coach DeBerry along with a framed certificate and engraved plaque. 

NBUA Criteria:
1. The coach, over a period of time has demonstrated outstanding contributions to the life lessons imparted to the student atheletes. 

2. The coach exemplifies the "extension of the classroom" to the baseball field by consistent and exceptional portrayal of the highest ideals.

3. The student atheletes all benefit from their participation in the opportunities to experience competition, leadership, honor, respect confidence, teamwork, focus, discipline, humility, pride, and determination.
