Hi, my name is Lexus Oden, and I love my basketball program at Todd Beamer High School. Going into my first year here as a sophomore I was very nervous trying out for the team. Luckily, I had come to a school with high spirits and felt very welcome by my teammates. Going into season I already felt like we were family. If one person won we all won and if one person lost we all lost.

During my JV season I was able to develop my basketball skills tremendously. One thing I’ll remember most that year is my teammates. They all brought different strengths and weaknesses to the team which allowed us to work great together and not lose a game. That season, not only did I leave developing my game at basketball I also left with life-long friendships.

During my Varsity season as a junior I was brought to a whole new level. My team had different people, the practices were more intense and the games were harder. It was a little intimidating at first but things got a lot more comfortable and easy.

Last year I developed my ball skills, but this year it was more of a mental thing, having to push through the tiredness and struggle. We won all of our league games and for the first time we were able to play at State. Sadly, we lost to Gonzaga Prep and took third. It was hard having to work as hard as we did to get there and then lose.

This year, as a senior and having five other seniors on my team we are hungrier than ever. We treat each practice as a game and every game as a championship. Our goal is to make it to the end and win State.

We hold each other accountable and lift each other up during practices, games, school and even in our personal lives. I know I can rely on my teammates and I know that they’re there for me, both on and off the courts. I can’t wait to see what the rest of the season has to offer us.

Ball is life.
