RENTON, Wash. – The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) announced the additions of Dr. Pam Veltri and Leta Meyer to the WIAA Executive Board, filling vacant positions previously held by George Juarez and Michele Webb.

Dr. Veltri, the Superintendent for the Medical Lake School District, will become the Region C representative, while Meyer, the Athletic Director at Heritage High School will be the at-large representative.

A native of Priest River, Idaho, Dr. Veltri has been an administrator for the Medical Lake School District for 14 years. Prior to her role as the Superintendent, Dr. Veltri was the Assistant Superintendent and Director of Curriculum and Instruction for Special Programs. She began her career in education as an elementary teacher in Wallace, Idaho.

A strong advocate of interscholastic activities, Dr. Veltri spent time as a volunteer assistant track and field coach and was also a cheerleader advisor during her time as an educator.

Dr. Veltri received her Ph.D. in education administration and a Masters of Education from the University of Idaho. She also received her Masters of Arts in curriculum and administration from Gonzaga University, where she did her undergraduate work.

Meyer, currently in her 11th year at Heritage, has been a constant figure in high school activities. She was the Greater St. Helens League Treasure for 10 years and a Rep. Assembly member for four. In 2008-09, she served as the GSHL President as well as the President of District IV.

Meyer earned her associate degree from Lower Columbia College, before earning her bachelor’s degree in physical education from Central Washington University. She later obtained her master’s in teaching from Lewis and Clark College, and recently received her Certificate of Athletic Administrators from the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association in 2008.

A strong advocate of education and athletics, Meyer was a long time coach for the Mountain View Mighty Thunder. During her entire 18 years at Mountain View, Meyer was the head volleyball coach and also held head coaching positions in girl’s basketball, softball and golf throughout her tenure.

In addition to coaching, Meyer has also been a tournament manger for the State Golf Tournament, as well as district golf, basketball and softball tournaments.

Prior to her coaching experiences, Meyer was a talented high school softball and basketball player for the Kelso Highlanders.

The WIAA Executive Board is comprised of 13 school or athletic administrators from WIAA member schools or school districts. The Board consists of representatives from each of the nine districts, three regional members and one at-large representative.

The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association exists to assist member schools in operating student programs that foster achievement, respect, equity, enthusiasm and excellence in a safe and organized environment.
