Coach, Garfield High School
Greg began his 30-year career with the Seattle School District as the Garfield High School Girls Track and Field Head Coach (1972).
His girls teams won eight State Championships, five of which were consecutive (1981-85), and finished in second place in 1986 by only one point. Under his direction, Garfield won numerous league titles and was always considered a contender for the State Title.
The 1983 Garfield 800m Relay team still holds the 4A State Meet record (1:39.12). While he was coaching, his runners held three other 4A State Meet records: the 400m Relay (47.05), the 400m dash (54.34), and the 100m hurdles (13.71). Throughout his 30 years of coaching, Greg coached 38 individual Champions.
Greg was named Girls Track Coach of the Year by the Washington State Track and Field Coaches Association in 1997. He was the 2001 KingCo Coach of the Year and was inducted into the Washington State Track and Field Coaches Hall of Fame in 2003. Greg remains a track and field enthusiast to this day.
Greg is still giving back to high school athletics and activities working as an assistant in the Seattle School District Athletic office. The legacy of his impact as a coach and the success of his track and field teams continues to serve as an inspiration for today's Garfield Bulldog student athletes.
