CLASS OF 2015 INDUCTEE

Cindy has been a dedicated sports official for more than 35 years. The daughter of a longtime referee, she developed a passion for sports and officiating at an early age and has carried that commitment throughout her life.

She began officiating junior high, high school, and college volleyball in Southwest Washington in 1980. Just two years later, she became a member of the WOA Representative Assembly for the Southwest Boards and soon after took on the role of assigning secretary. Since 1985, Cindy has represented District 2 with the Washington Officials Association (WOA) and later served as WOA Board President from 2007–2011.

A leader and mentor for countless officials, Cindy has been actively involved with the Greater Seattle Volleyball Officials (GSVO) for more than 30 years, serving in every board position—including multiple terms as president—for a combined 12 years. She has also officiated numerous State Volleyball Tournaments across classifications and, since 1995, has served as the state clinician and officials coordinator for multi-classification State Volleyball tournaments.

Her dedication has been widely recognized. She was named Washington State Official of the Year (1999), received the WOA Meritorious Service Award (2004), earned the GSVO 25-Year Service Award (2010), and was inducted into the WOA Hall of Fame (2013). That same year, she was also honored by the R.A. Long High School Hall of Fame as a member of the undefeated 1971 Lumberjill Swim Team.

Cindy’s officiating career is also deeply personal. Inspired by her father’s lifelong example, she trained as a football official in 2007 so she could share the field with him. She has since continued the family legacy by officiating alongside her daughters, reinforcing her belief that officiating is not just about the games—it’s about connection, community, and giving back.
