Position: High School Assistant Principal/ Athletics/Activities Director
Location Goldendale, WA
Description QUALIFICATIONS: 1.Have or qualify for, a valid Washington State Principal’s Certificate.
2.Master’s Degree
3.Demonstrated successful high school classroom experience.
4.Demonstrated successful high school activities administrative experience.
5.Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
6.Demonstrated organizational skills and commitment to follow through on tasks.
7.Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills, both orally and in writing with students, parents, staff and patrons.
8.Fingerprint and criminal history background check through Washington State Patrol and FBI required.

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

JOB GOALS: To provide the leadership necessary to set, promote, and maintain a positive learning environment. To work with students, staff, and parents in providing the necessary communication and consistency of enforcement of school rules to meet the goal of a safe and nurturing learning climate.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.Administration:
a. Work cooperatively with the superintendent and the Administrative Leadership Team for all students and staff.
b. Provide leadership to the building improvement committee in long and short-range projects relative to the physical facility.
c. Work cooperatively with the principal both in-school and co-curricular activities.
d. Provide support to building principal: attendance, intervention, discipline, etc.
e. Support and evaluate CTE instructors
2. Athletic Director, 9th-12th:
a. Manage the building activities master calendar of events, both school and community.
b. Coordinate with the building principal in the development of practice and contest schedules for athletic activities in conjunction with officials associations, the district transportation department, custodians and others as needed.
c. Work with the building principal and in the establishment of budgets and expenditures.
d. Maintain eligibility reports, insurance forms, travel permission, physicals, grade reports.
e. Work in coordination with the building principal for all personnel matters related to athletics and activities.
f. Maintain regular communication with the coaches and the principal regarding the athletic programs.
g. Represent the school when appropriate at meetings and conferences relating to athletics.
h. Promote good public relations within and outside the district.
i. Maintain a total written inventory of all athletic equipment for each sport and submit copies to the principal annually at the end of the sport season.
j. Arrange for availability of workable equipment necessary for the administration of contest.
k. Recommend the purchase of equipment, supplies and facilities needs relating to athletics.
l. Coordinate field trips with the transportation department and make appropriate forms available to teachers and students.
m. Coordinate, review and distribute the Athletic/Activities Handbook information annually.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be established by the Board.


EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of administrative personnel.
