Position: Assistant Athletic Trainer
Location Lakeside School
Description Lakeside School, an independent 5-12 coeducational day school located in North Seattle is currently recruiting for an Assistant Athletic Trainer to begin immediately. Job Summary
The assistant athletic trainer, reporting to the head athletic trainer, joins an athletics program that includes 23 varsity teams, most of which have sub-varsity and middle school counterparts. The assistant athletic trainer works alongside and under the direction of the head athletic trainer to supervise and coordinate Lakeside School’s sports medicine program. There is an emphasis on prevention and care. The work focuses on evaluation, management, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. Educating and counseling of student-athletes is critical in this work as is health care administration in consultation with team physician and family-specific medical professionals.

Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions)
1. Serve as the primary on-site athletic trainer at evening, weekend, summer, and off-campus athletics events as assigned by the head athletic trainer and director of athletics.
2. Provide and coordinate injury treatment, rehabilitation, and cognitive assessments while maintaining records for all students.
3. Communicate with the head athletic trainer, student-athletes, coaches, and parents/guardians regarding student-athlete injuries.
4. Adhere to high professional standards in all areas including appearance and communication with students, coaches, faculty, staff, and families.
5. Commit to providing supports, messaging, actions, and opportunities to a diverse student-athlete population, their families, and coaches who come to school with different and evolving lived experiences.
6. Assist in cleaning and managing the supplies and equipment of the sports medicine program and supervision of training room during assigned hours.
7. Attend required interscholastic athletics program meetings.

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
1. Demonstrated cultural awareness, including knowledge of themselves and the cultural lenses they bring to interactions. The candidate will understand different perspectives; interact respectfully with cultures other than their own; and cultivate meaningful relationships with people that have different cultural frameworks.
3. Be available during the hours and dates set by the head athletic trainer and the director of athletics.
4. Exhibit enthusiasm for the role of athletics in an independent-school setting.
5. Possess and lead with strong organizational and communication skills.
6. Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
7. Satisfactorily complete two criminal background checks.

Education and Experience
1. Bachelor’s degree in a field related to sports medicine.
2. Experience as an athletic trainer at the high school or college level is strongly preferred.
3. Be a NATA member in good standing.
4. Possess NATA certification.

Physical Requirements
1. While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to sit, walk and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; reach with hands and arms and carry sports related supplies and equipment.
2. Ability to walk from upper school to middle school campus (about 3 long blocks away).
3. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds overhead.
4. Standing/sitting for long period of time during event days which exceed eight hours.
5. Potential exposure to dust.
6. Exposure to outside weather conditions such as rain, snow, wind, and fog.
