Mountlake Terrace HS & Lynnwood HS

Kim Wilson’s career in Washington high school athletics spanned decades and left a lasting impact on students, coaches, and administrators alike. He began his career as a teacher and coach at Mountlake Terrace High School, where he served for five years before moving to Lynnwood High School for seven years. He later returned to Mountlake Terrace High School as assistant principal and athletic director. For nine years, Kim served as the Edmonds District athletic secretary until his retirement in 1995.

Throughout his career, Kim was deeply involved with the WIAA, serving as a board member for eight years, including a year as WIAA Executive Board President. He also held the roles of Executive Secretary and Treasurer for the Northwest Interscholastic Activities Association.

Kim’s dedication and leadership earned him numerous honors. He was named WSSAAA Athletic Director of the Year in 1996, inducted into the Mountlake Terrace Hall of Fame in 2000, and received the WIAA Gareth Giles Memorial Award that same year.

Known for his integrity and commitment to students, Kim was respected by every school he worked with. One school noted his ability to “make decisions for the benefit of students, not for his own personal or political gain.” Kim Wilson’s career exemplified the values of education, athletics, and activities, and he set a high standard for future administrators to follow.
