Chad Ward is a graduate of River View High School in Kennewick, Wash., where he played football, basketball, and track. He excelled as a lineman in football.
Ward was a four-year starter on the River View HS varsity basketball team. He also threw the shot for the track squad and won the district championship as a junior. He excelled as a lineman on the football team, earning First Team All-State in his sophomore, junior, and senior years. In his senior year, he was selected as a First Team All-American by U.S.A. Today, Blue Chip Illustrated, and Super Prep. He was named one of the top-five offensive linemen in the Western U.S. by Blue Chip Illustrated, while Super Prep recognized him as one of the top-10 offensive linemen in the nation.
Chad went on to play football for the University of Washington where he never missed a start over four seasons. During his senior year he was elected as a team captain, helped lead his team to a Rose Bowl victory over Purdue, and was later named the Pac-10 “Lineman of the Year” as well as an Associated Press First Team All-American.
He was drafted in the sixth round by the Jacksonville Jaguars and played professional football for four years before an injury ended his career. Since retiring from professional football, Chad has continued to make a positive impact on the Kennewick community, volunteering as a coach at River View HS and Grid Kids football.
