Crowd Control

Officials are responsible for fairly enforcing the NFHS playing rules on the court/field/deck. The host team management is responsible for crowd control. Rather than put the officials into a confrontational situation with a spectator, if a spectator(s) comes out onto the court/field/deck during the time period that officials have jurisdiction of the contest, the contest should be suspended until the spectator(s) is removed. Neither the individual participants on the court nor the team shall be penalized unless direct action on their part caused the confrontation to occur.

WIAA handbook rules 3.4.0, 17.32.0 and 17.33.0 mandate that member school districts maintain proper crowd control at all interscholastic contests and events. The schools and the leagues will deal with any situations and/or violations.
