As the longtime head coach of the Kamiak High School Dance/Drill team, Kathryn Noonan has left an indelible mark on high school activities in Washington state. With a coaching career spanning over three decades—from 1993 to the present—she has built one of the most respected and accomplished dance programs in the state, all while fostering an environment of growth, integrity, and belonging for her students.

Under Noonan’s leadership, the Kamiak Dance/Drill team has achieved extraordinary success. Her squads have earned dozens of first-place finishes across the state in regular-season competitions, consistently standing out for their technical precision, creativity, and spirit. In postseason play, her teams have captured multiple District Championships in a variety of categories, including Kick, Kick/Prop, Kick/Pom, and Dance. 

Noonan has led her program to the pinnacle of competition, guiding her dancers to a WIAA State Championship in the Kick category, a State Runner-Up finish, and a third-place state finish in the Dance category. Her teams have also earned “Exceptional” ratings at the WIAA State Championships on three separate occasions—evidence of the high standards she upholds year after year.

Noonan’s impact cannot be measured by trophies alone. She is known for her deep compassion, unwavering commitment, and the powerful bonds she forms with her athletes. A tireless mentor and advocate, she is praised by students and colleagues alike for her consistent presence and steadfast support. As one former dancer shared, “Miss Noonan never missed a single practice in the four years I was on the team. Even outside of practice, she was always available for any of her dancers, whether their problem was dance, school, or family-related.” Another echoed, “Miss Noonan is an exceptional mom/coach/mentor/educator to the team, always choosing learning opportunities over competitive advantage.”

Her influence extends well beyond competitions; she is known for nurturing life skills, resilience, and personal growth in every student she coaches. For over 30 years, Kathryn Noonan has built more than routines and championship teams—she has built a legacy of character, community, and excellence.
