GAME 1 Roosevelt Defeats Seattle Prep 7-0 in First Game at ECKC

The first game of the Emerald City Kickoff Classic presented by Farmers Insurance ended with a 7-0 victory by the Roosevelt Rough Riders over the Seattle Prep Panthers. In the first half, Roosevelt’s defense shut down Seattle Prep’s offense, limiting the Panthers to 46 total yards. The Rough Riders scored the only touchdown of the game in the second quarter on a Bereket Anshebo rush of 22 yards.
Roosevelt was led by Anshebo’s game-high 150 yards rushing. Fellow running back Starling Tate had nine carries for 46 yards for the Rough Riders as a team finished with 225 total yards. The Panthers were led by Nathaniel Post’s 135 yards on 13 carries. Clayton Cmiskie followed with 39 yards on nine carries. Seattle Prep finished with 191 yards of total offense. Both teams had three red zone chances, but couldn’t capitalize on any of the opportunities. Each team also threw one interception. Roosevelt continues its season on Sept. 14 on the road at Kennedy, while Seattle Prep hosts West Seattle on Sept. 13. |
