Happy New Year!
This is a quick reminder that the Coins for a Cause Fundraising Challenge is officially underway! It's not too late for your school to start fundraising for this great cause. All proceeds will go directly to Special Olympics Washington to benefit the important work they do for Special Olympics athletes in our states.
Be sure to forward this along to any students or potential advisors in your school that might be interested in participating.

The WIAA's LEAP Committee (student leaders) started Coins for a Cause in 2009 as a way to raise money for local non-profit organizations at WIAA State Championships. As of the fall of 2013, Coins for a Cause has raised over $26,000 for organizations such as Special Olympics Washington, Northwest Harvest and InvestED.

This year, Coins for a Cause will be raising money for Special Olympics Washington at the State Basketball Championships. In addition to the halftime competition, the WIAA has teamed up with Projekt Karma to add an EXCITING, NEW ONLINE FUNDRAISING CHALLENGE!
We're challenging schools to raise money for Special Olympics Washington through Projekt Karma's easy-to-use online funding platform. From January 1, 2014 through February 28, 2014, any school interested in participating can set up a 'projekt' committed to raising money for Special Olympics Washington via Projekt Karma.
At the end of February 2014, the school that has raised the most money will be recognized for their efforts at the 2014 State Basketball Championships. The winning school will also receive a variety of cool prizes, including donations from the Mariners, Seahawks and Sounders!
