Mother-Daughter Title Night in the Yakima SunDome

The 1B and 2B Volleyball State Championships were a very special time for Sue Doering, the head coach of the Colfax Bulldogs and her daughter, Megan Doering, the head coach of the St. John-Endicott Eagles.

Sue was inducted into the Washington Volleyball Coaches Hall of Fame and lead Colfax to the 2B Volleyball State Championship.  Megan lead St. John-Endicott to its first-ever 1B Volleyball State Championship title and she became engaged at the tournament to her now-fiance, Mike Dorman.

2009 State Football Championships Benefiting Special Olympics Washington

The WIAA L.E.A.P. Committee helped to raise $3,010.00 for Special Olympics Washington over two days at the WIAA/Dairy Farmers of Washington/Les Schwab Tires Gridiron Classic!  The students were responsible for running activities at half time of each game in which schools competed to see who could raise the most money.  Fans donated pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters and dollar bills.  After half time, the L.E.A.P. Committee members counted the donations and determined which school collected the most coins.  An announcement was made during the third quarter of every game, informing the audience of how much each school donated.  Thank you to all of the students, parents and fans for helping to support Specialy Olympics Washington!

L.E.A.P. Committee page to view a slide show of Coins for a Cause.
