We just received this correspondence from the NFHS regarding soccer uniform rule changes.  The date for implementation of the new soccer uniform rule has been moved back one year to the fall of 2013.

Please note, the new football uniform rule will still take effect fall of 2012.

Dear NFHS State Association Executive Directors and Soccer Liaisons,

 

During the October 25th NFHS Board of Directors Meeting, it was determined that the implementation date for NFHS Soccer Rule 4-1-1b will be delayed until fall 2013. The current uniform rule, which was originally adopted in January 2010, is written in the current rules book to reflect a start date of fall 2012. This rule will now read:

 

"The home team shall wear white or light jerseys and socks, and the visiting team shall wear dark jerseys and socks. Beginning with the 2013 fall season, the home team shall wear solid white jerseys and solid white socks, and the visiting team shall wear dark jerseys and socks. Prior to and during the game, jerseys shall be tucked into the shorts, unless manufactured to be worn outside."

 

The reasoning behind this change is to allow for an additional year for member schools to be compliant. This change will be reflected in the 2011-12 NFHS Soccer Rules Book.
