WIAA Executive Board Action For November Meeting
RENTON, Wash. - The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association Executive Board concluded its November meeting, Sunday, Nov. 14, 2010.
During the meeting, the Board passed on first reading a proposal to change the current wrestling format to balance all regional wrestling tournaments. The proposed regional format would allocate four entries to the state tournament for each region. The WIAA and the Executive Board will send a survey to athletic directors, principals and superintendents to gather feedback about the proposed change. The deadline date to return the survey is Tuesday, Nov. 30.
The Board also discussed State Golf Championship sites, which will be finalized at the December Board Meeting. In addition, the Board approved a five-year contract with Baden to be the official equipment provider for the state championships. The Board considered the cost for schools and the financial support for the association from Baden when making its decision.
The following actions took place at the November meeting:
FAILED a motion to have pigtail matches at State Wrestling PASSED a motion on first reading to have a balanced bracket option for regional wrestling second and third reading will take place at the December Board meeting PASSED a motion to accept the Baden ball bid
The next WIAA Executive Board Meeting will take place, Dec. 5-6.
