SUBJECT: Basketball 40 Point Differential Score Clock/Shot Clock Start and Stop
We have recently learned that some schools are experiencing difficulties with game clocks/shot clocks when the new WIAA rule of a running clock is implemented due to a 40 point difference in the score.
In this situation, some schools have learned that they can not shut off the shot clock without stopping the main time clock.
Daktronics can install a start/stop toggle for the shot clock.
Nevco makes an SCS-4 hand-held switch.
We recommend you contact your sales representative to obtain the switches.
Until a school is able to install the switch to separate the starting/stopping of the shot clock from the main clock, the WIAA office suggests that the shot clock be turned off and the main clock continue to run as per WIAA rules.
