RENTON, Wash. – The WIAA and WOA recently concluded discussions regarding agreement language and their five-year fee plan.
The associations agreed to extend the language in the WIAA/WOA Agreement for the 2011-12 school year. The agreement language for the WIAA/WOA Agreement is currently being reviewed to address official’s fees for tournaments and travel.
The two organizations also discussed the Official’s Fee Plan, which is currently entering the third year of a five-year plan. In order to honor the original plan, and because of past considerations by the WOA, the associations agreed to implement the plan’s $2 increase per contest per official for the 2011-12 school year. (During the first year of the five-year plan, the WOA agreed to no fee increase. Originally, the plan included a fee increase of $2 per year during each of the remaining years of the plan.) Currently the Washington officials rank 25th overall in per contest fees. The two entities agreed to table further fee increases to a later meeting.
