Drew Miller demonstrated excellence both on and off the field throughout his athletic career. A graduate of Lakes High School, Miller played football and baseball, serving as quarterback, kicker, and punter on the football team. During his senior year, he threw for 3,366 yards with 42 touchdowns, earning Player of the Year honors. He finished his prep career with school and state records, including 9,003 career passing yards and 103 career touchdowns. Miller received numerous accolades, including First Team All-State, three-time First Team All-Conference, and First Team All-American. He also played a key role in ending a 15-year playoff drought for his baseball team.

Miller continued his football career at Brigham Young University, becoming the first true freshman in school history to start at quarterback. He later transferred to the University of Montana, where he was named Big Sky Conference Newcomer of the Year (1999) and earned First Team All-Big Sky and First Team All-American honors in both 1999 and 2000. He was a two-time finalist for the Walter Payton Award, recognizing the most outstanding offensive player in Division I-FCS. Over 22 collegiate games, Miller completed 530 of 812 passes (65 percent) for 7,211 yards and 52 touchdowns, setting multiple school records, including 327.8 passing yards per game.

Following graduation, Miller played briefly in the Canadian Football League and Arena Football League before transitioning to coaching. He began as an assistant at the University of Montana, then served as quarterbacks coach at Lakes High School and offensive coordinator at Bellarmine Prep. Miller returned to the collegiate ranks as wide receivers coach at Central Washington University for three seasons and later at Idaho State University as wide receivers and kick returners coach. Throughout his coaching career, Miller has mentored numerous all-conference and All-American players, leaving a lasting impact on every program he joined.
