Tom Campbell spent 23 years shaping the sport of cross country in the Edmonds School District, leaving a legacy as both a leader and innovator. Under his guidance, his boys and girls teams became a powerhouse, capturing 11 state championship titles—six for the boys and five for the girls—while also earning eight additional top-four finishes. Two of his athletes achieved individual state titles during his tenure.

Campbell holds the unique distinction of winning state championships at all four Washington state cross country meet sites: Evergreen High School, Hangman Valley, Port Townsend, and Pasco. Beyond coaching, he was a driving force in the sport statewide, founding the Washington State Cross Country Coaches Association and serving as its president for 12 years.

Through his dedication, Tom Campbell not only built championship teams but also helped shape the framework for cross country coaching in Washington for generations to come.
