As a coach, Don Freeman has guided numerous athletes to success, including several individual State Champions and All-Americans, along with multiple league and district titles in gymnastics. He has also earned two WIAA State Championships and three USA U-16 World Championship Gold Medals as a baseball coach.

A graduate of Renton High School, Freeman went on to attend Spokane Falls Community College before earning his bachelor’s degree from Eastern Washington University. He later received his master’s degree in Education from Michigan State University.

Freeman began his coaching career in 1972 at Battle Ground High School, where he led teams in men’s and women’s gymnastics as well as football. From 1979 to 2004, he coached multiple sports at Prairie High School, including women’s gymnastics, football, and baseball. Over the course of his career, he was honored with five Coach of the Year awards from various athletic and educational organizations.

Beyond his work on the sidelines, Freeman demonstrated a strong commitment to the advancement of both athletes and coaches. He served as president of the Washington Men’s Gymnastics Coaches Association (1979–1983), an Executive Board member of the Washington Baseball Coaches Association (1989–2004), and president of the Washington State Baseball Coaches Association (1990–1999). In addition, he was a member of the USA Baseball National Team Trials Selection Committee from 2000 to 2012.

Freeman eventually his focus to coaching and promoting baseball internationally and coached the Berlin Flamingos, a professional baseball club in Germany.
