Dick Eglet has been a cornerstone of high school officiating in Washington for nearly six decades. Since 1965, he has officiated a wide range of sports, including girls and boys basketball, baseball, and softball, earning a reputation for fairness, consistency, and dedication.
Eglet has served as the Central Washington Basketball Officials Girls assignor for 33 years, the Yakima Valley Basketball Officials Association Boys assignor since 1994, and the Yakima Valley Umpires Association softball and baseball assignor since the 1990s. He has also been the Central Washington Volleyball Officials Volleyball assignor since 2008 and a board member representing Region 5 on the WOA Executive Board for 15 of the past 18 years. Additionally, Eglet has contributed to the WIAA/WOA Fee Review Committee for 15 years.
Beyond local assignments, Dick coordinated officials for state tournaments in Yakima—basketball since 1999, volleyball since 1992, baseball since 2008, and softball since 2007. He also worked community college girls basketball for 15 years and eight years at Central Washington University. His efforts have ensured that athletic contests at all levels are staffed by qualified, dependable officials.
Dick’s service extends far beyond the court and field. He has spent countless hours collaborating with athletic directors and multiple associations to meet officiating needs across the region. He has also contributed as a member of the Yakima Valley Interscholastic Activities Association District 5 Board for five years. Through his decades of commitment, Dick Eglet has become a model of dedication, integrity, and leadership in Washington high school sports officiating.
